Just yesterday it was announced that Britney Spears would be opening the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, now it has been confirmed that Christina Aguilera will indeed be performing at this years awards show during a press conference at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, CA.
On the news the singer said she is excited and her 8-month-old baby Max will see her perform, “I’m very excited, this will be his first time watching me perform on television, but only for a little while because he’s not really allowed to watch television yet. I’ll make an exception for the VMAs.”
Host of this years show Russell Brand joked “That kid is going to grow up with a hell of an Oedipus complex!”
It has also been confirmed that Rihanna and T.I. will perform together, Katy Perry will cover Madonna’s classic song Like A Virgin and Pete Wentz will be involved with the show, “probably with his wife, who is pregnant” joked Brand.
As for seating arrangments, Ashlee Simpson will be close to Spears, it has been rumored Zac Efron and Chace Crawford will both sit next to Spears as well.

Ashlee Simpson has gone to her blog to talk about rumors that have come up about the pregnant singer.
Today I read on a blog that I went to the doctor and he said I was overweight and I cried and went to Planet Blue (because I was blue) and bought 6 pair of size 0 jeans. Now it is ridiculous to read such nonsense about oneself so I thought I would address this one…
1. My doctor says I am right on target with my weight gain
2. Have not been to Planet Blue in at least two years
3. Love my maternity jeans ..they have stretchy tops it is awesome!
4. My closet full of size 0’s are being worn by Pete right now and he looks hot in them 
So now that I have cleared that up let me tell you…carrying a child is the most inspiring, emotional, amazing experience of my life. My weight and my pant size are the absolute last thing I am concerned about. I am only concerned with having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. People who talk and judge pregnant women’s weight need to get a life!!!

A couple of days after helping the launch of Request clothing line at Zellers department store in Canada, Ashlee Simpson and some of her entourage were spotted arriving in LAX Aiport on Saturday (August 23) in Los Angeles, CA.
Simpson told People that her “mom and my grandmother [have] given me good motherly advice ut it’s one of those things where your mother instincts kind of kick in right away.”
She added that she has written some new songs but the baby is her main focus at the moment.

Ashlee Simpson proudly showed her baby bump of as she gave an interview while helping the re-launching of the Request clothing line at Zellers department store at the Square One mall in Mississauga, Canada.
On being a future designer: Fashion is always something that’s fun for me, In the near future, I’ll be designing my own clothes as well, so I’m looking forward to that.
On making clothes: I really like knitting but I always kind of have a hole in it, I don’t have anything made yet for my baby but maybe I will.
On her excitement of being a mother: I think your mother instincts really kick in the day you find out that you’re pregnant and for me, it’s been a blast preparing for it, getting the nursery ready and all that. So, we’re both really looking forward to it.
On where she will raise her baby: I would definitely look into moving, We haven’t decided where we’re going to raise our kid but for the first year we’ll stay in California.

Ashlee Simpson and a friend were spotted doing a bit of shopping in Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday (July 23).
The mother to be looked in good spirits as she laughed and smiled the whole time they were out, the pair stopped by American Apparel before grabbing an iced coffee to cool themselves down.
Ashlee’s husband, Pete Wentz said he has been reading up to try and prepare himself for their baby, “I’m reading all the books. The best one I’ve read so far is ‘The Expectant Father’. I’m talking to my dad a lot. I’m talking to Ashlee’s dad a lot. We hang out with other people who have kids. You see the world in a different way. It’s exciting.”
