Geri Is A Big Seller

Geri Halliwell has been named the most successful female children’s author of 2008 in the UK, for her Ugenia Lavender series of books.

The former Spice Girl has sold over 250,000 copies since May 2008, the books tell the adventures of a nine-year-old girl.

Rachel Airey, head buyer at WH Smith tells GigWise that “continued strong sales prove that customers are buying this series because it’s well written and both the kids and their parents love it. The amount of time Geri has given to the promotion of these books shows her dedication and commitment to the series.”

36-year-old Halliwell says, “I’m so happy that everyone loves Ugenia as much as I do.”

The sixth book in the series is released today (Friday, October 3) and has been praised by critics.

Spice Girls Pride of Britain

Geri Is Finished Singing

Ginger Spice is gone as Geri Halliwell showed off a darker hair color while signing copies for her new children’s book, Ugenia Lavender, at a Waterstone’s book store on Saturday (September 27) in London, England.

Halliwell recently said that she will be writing from now on, she says “I really feel like I’ve done it with the singing … I just feel really comfortable writing and reading.”

Spice Girls Beat Led Zeppelin

The Spice Girls have beaten legend rockstars Led Zeppelin to take the award for Best Reunion at the 2008 Vodafone Muisic Awards Thursday (September 18), at the Carling Academy Brixton in London, England.

Emma Bunton, who was the only member of the group to show up, said that she was “a bit shocked” to win the award.

Speaking on the tour she said “we had a great time. So I just feel very lucky that I had the opportunity to do it again. The thing is, when you go to a gig, you go for fun and entertainment and a night out, that’s exactly what we did and I think that’s why people enjoyed it so much.”

Geri Halliwell For Crank 2

Former Spice Girls singer Geri Halliwell is set to have a small cameo in the upcoming Jason Statham movie, Crank 2: High Voltage.

Halliwell told Hello Magazine that she wants to try her acting chops again, after having a small part in an episode of Sex and the City.

She said, “I have just filmed a small part in the movie Crank 2. I play a chavvy (low-class) mother with a blacked out tooth and look like trailer trash. I’m trying to do things that I enjoy, that test my character and which are joyful, creative and funny.”

Crank 2: High Voltage is set for a April 17, 2009 release date.

Spice Girls Number 1 Grossing Tour

The Spice Girls have been announced as the highest grossing tour from April 2007 - April 2008 for playing in one venue, the girl group earned $33 million in just 17 shows at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Prince also earned a lot of money from playing the O2 arena for a sold-out-21-night run, making $22 million last August which sees him as number two on the list.

The Police came in third on the list with $15.3 million from playing two nights in Paris, France.
