Christian Bale Arrested

Christian Bale and Maggie Gyllenhaal walked the red carpet for the London premiere of The Dark Knight on Monday (July 21). Bale was lucky to be at the event because his mother and sister filed a complaint claiming the actor assaulted them at Park Lane’s Dorchester Hotel on Sunday (July 20).

When the actor went in for questioning on Tuesday (July 22) he was arrested, the police wouldn’t name Bale but did say “A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment. He was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault. He currently remains in custody.”

One source told The Sun why the actor wasn’t arrested on Monday, “It was a very difficult situation but it would have been wrong to have wrecked the premiere over a complaint which we don’t yet know is founded in truth.”

Movies Out This Week

The Dark Knight goes head to head with Mamma Mia, while the Dark Knight is set to make way more money than Mamma Mia, the movie should still rake in a lot.

Mamma Mia stars Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried , Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth and is about the story of 18 year old Sophie (Seyfried), who is about to get married but there is only one problem, she doesn’t know who her father is. Her mother (Streep) tels her it could be any one of 3 guys, so she invites all 3 guys to the wedding.

The Dark Knight has already made $18.5 from its midnight screenings on Friday (July 18). Making it the most successful debut since 2005’s Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith. The Dark Knight is set to make about $120 million.

Maggie Gyllenhaal Does Marie Claire

Maggie Gyllenhaal is featured in the August issue of Marie Claire magazine which is out on Tuesday, July 15. Gyllenhaal can be seen in The Dark Knight which is out this Friday, July 18. Something tells us the actress’s career is going to be even bigger than it already is.

On brother Jake Gyllenhaal: “We lived with him in Los Angeles when [my fiance Peter Sarsgaard] and Jake were making Rendition. Jake has a beautiful house, much nicer than a hotel. He’s great with kids - it comes naturally to him. He really has that touch.”

On co-star Heath Ledgers death: “We live pretty close to them. [But] it was disgusting. I had journalists call me on my cell phone. There were these two shy girls sent from some rag magazine to camp in front of my house. I came home with [my daughter] Ramona and I was so shocked and angry. These poor girls (Michelle Williams and daugther Matilda), it wasn’t their fault. They were out of their element.”
