Ne-Yo is following in the footsteps of Eminem by releasing a semi-autobiographical film, similar to Eminem’s 8 Mile movie.
The R&B singer tells Rap-Up.com that they are “are putting together the next film right now as we speak, as a matter of fact. The name of the movie is Venice Beach and basically it’s going to be my 8 Mile, loosely based on my life, but not really,”
The 28-year-old continues saying “there’s a lot of room for it to be either really good or really corny. We gotta make sure the script is right, so that’s why we ain’t start shooting yet. We gotta get it right.”
Production is set to start in December 2008. 8 Mile went on to gross over $240 million worldwide.
Ne-Yo has sold millions of albums and won a Grammy award but the singer claims the media don’t give him enough press.
The 28-year-old-singer has hit out at the press for not under-appreciating him because he lives a clean cut life, he says “people feel that because I’m a fully functional adult and not a heroin addict, I won’t sell magazines. Everybody wants me to be the guy who’s sleeping with every celebrity woman in the industry.”
He adds “everybody wants me to be this guy in the club, popping 17 bottles. Everybody wants me to be Diddy, but that’s not me.”
The Closer singer then goes on to say that he does have a bad side but his label don’t want him to show it, saying “it’s not that I haven’t tried. But my management, the record label - they feel that I have created this image, this box for myself. And they want to keep me in this box. I’ve told them ‘You don’t understand. There’s so much more to me that you’re not allowing me to show the world.”
“Maybe if they allowed me to show these other sides of me, then people would pay more attention to me instead of saying, ‘Oh, Ne-Yo. Oh great music, great songwriter’ - what’s Little Wayne doing?”‘
Ne-Yo attended the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (September 7) at the Paramount Studios in Hollywood, CA.
The singer is nominated for Best Dancing in a Video and Best Editing in a Video for his song Closer.

Ne-Yo was awarded over $700,000 in a lawsuit against R Kelly after being dropped from a tour.
The pair were set to tour North America together in 2007 but after two shows Ne-Yo was asked to leave, he claims he was dropped from the tour because “fans and critics preferred his performance” to R Kelly’s.
At the time the lawsuit was filed Ne-Yo said Jive Records’ allegation that contract problems had caused his exit were “absolutely false“.
To which he added “I believe it was because the first few reviews of the show, people were talking more about my set than his and I don’t think he liked that too much,”
Ne-Yo was paid $50,000 for the two shows he did pay , the suit said he was still owed $735,000
Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson were spotted out together doing what they do best, shopping and getting lunch on Tuesday (August 19).
The couple were spotted out in Malibu grabbing some lunch before heading over to Beverly Hills to spend some money at the stores.
In other news, R&B singer Ne-Yo has issued an apology to Lohan after he doubted her musical talents before working with her in the recording studio.
The singer/songwriter worked with Lindsay on her song Bossy and a couple more songs on her upcoming album Spirit In The Dark.
He says, “Miss Lindsay Lohan, I apologise if you are watching. I am sorry. There we go. Straight up and down I thought it was gonna suck. I was like, Lindsay Lohan are you joking? Are you serious? What the hell am I going to do for Lindsay Lohan? I took it as a challenge. And we put together a record for her.”
He continued, “It’s a quality record. One that I didn’t think she was going to be able to pull off. Again, I will admit that. Straight up and down. I had to eat my words. I tried to call her and apologize for the assumption.”

R&B singer Ne-Yo has created his own animated series and is reportedly in talks with the Cartoon Network to get it on the air.
The 28-year-old singer said that the show is for adults, in a Family Guy kind of way. He also said he created the whole concept, which is about a rude bear that has been in jail in another dimension.
Speaking about the show which is called What The Bear, he said “I created the characters and the world they live in. And I did the original drawings and wrote the story. I’m working on the music for the series, too. It will all be original. “
